Dog River Generates More Than 650,000 Kilowatt Hours/Year of Renewable Power
Northfield, VT – Gravity Renewables, an owner and operator of renewable energy projects across the country, has completed its acquisition of the Dog River Hydroelectric Facility, also known as Nantanna Mill hydro, in Northfield.
“After a 31 year association with Nantanna Hydro – rehabilitating, operating or owning it – we are pleased to hand the keys over to Gravity Renewables,” said Jay Boeri, the project’s previous owner. Boeri will remain on as a consultant to the project.
“Powered by the topography of the Green Mountains, Dog River Hydro is an important part of the central Vermont’s renewable energy mix,” said Ted Rose, Gravity Renewables’ Chief Executive Officer. “We are grateful to Jay for putting his faith in our team.”
The plant was originally commissioned in 1983 and now generates approximately 650,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy each year – enough to power nearly 100 average Vermont homes.
Gravity’s acquisition ensures that Dog River Hydro will be preserved and continue to produce renewable energy for local residents and businesses for decades to come. Small hydroelectric facilities like Dog River Hydro generate predictable, reliable, affordable energy that’s renewable and locally produced. This is Gravity’s second Vermont Hydro Facility joining Comtu Falls in Springfield.
